Best time to travel

Varadero is warm all year but the best time to go is between mid November and April when the weather is sunny and dry. This is also peak season with more travelers and higher prices. From May to October it is hotter and more humid with a chance of storms but it is quieter and often cheaper.

Where to stay

Varadero offers two main choices for accommodation. You can stay downtown for smaller hotels, Airbnbs, and a more local vibe, or head to the resort strip on the peninsula for classic all inclusive beachfront stays.

  • Downtown Varadero - Great for travelers who want to mix with locals while still being close to the beach. This area has guesthouses, boutique hotels, and Airbnbs alongside shops, markets, and nightlife.
  • Resort Zone - Home to Varadero’s famous all inclusive resorts, this stretch of beach offers everything in one place. It is ideal for couples, families, or anyone who wants a hassle free holiday.

Is Varadero safe?

Varadero is considered one of Cuba's safest tourist destinations. The community is welcoming, and local authorities prioritize the safety of visitors. As with any travel destination, it's advisable to stay aware of your surroundings and take standard precautions.
